I am a healer, a spiritual teacher and I am highly empathetic. I also am also a business person, politically minded and I am passionate about understanding the world from many perspectives. My nature is about straddling the worlds. I've spent countless hours over 18 years learning and teaching yoga, meditation and exploring consciousness, tapping into what is beyond our physical experience and how do we heal & transform ourselves.
I am a Mother of two awesome kids, for 6 years I put my business on a part time track and motherhood as my primary focus. I used to say my home was my dojo, being at home with 2 small children requires a level of focus and care beyond the self that I'm not sure anything else could provide. It taught me how to have resilience and how to find peace inside when most days I was struggling to handle the demands of motherhood. It's been my greatest challenge and my greatest pride.
I don't like dwelling on sad stories so I'll say this, I've faced a lot of darkness in my life and what I've learned is that it's in our darkness that we have a chance to grow, our pain can be our gift. Often we don't change until the pain of making the change becomes less than the pain of staying the same, when we are lead to see our journey in a way we never knew we could. Perspective can change everything and Ortho-Bionomy has shown me how to see and interact with the body as an alliance not as something to conquer.
Ortho-Bionomy found me by way of a very good friend who found it on a visit to Australia. I had already completed some Somatic Bodywork training but when I learned about OB, I realized it was the approach I had been looking for. It made sense to me and came to me easily. I had numerous teachers on my education journey tell me how I had a natural propensity for healing. I am now in my 5th year of professional practice with Ortho-Bionomy I have had the privilege of having my hands on hundreds of people, experience that has taught me that while the human body can have common pain points we all hold tension in a slightly different way. Our experiences, thoughts and emotions shape the body, the body holds the story. Ortho-Bionomy is a collection of philosophies and tools for how to have the body resolve pain and tension patterns. Applying those philosophies and tools becomes an art and you only get better with practice.
In the summer of 2019 I unexpectedly took Ortho-Bionomy this fringe unheard of therapy into a mainstream medical clinic. How? Simply, because it works. When I first got into this work I always expected to be on the outskirts and to likely make my way slowly converting people to it's wisdom. Suddenly a door was open I didn't expect, when I started at this clinic I recall numerous times feeling like a fish out of water. Here I am this girl who has spent her life studying meditation, philosophy, spirituality and how we can heal from the inside out, now sharing my space with western medical professionals and healers. As one of my colleagues said "Liv, the proof is in the pudding", meaning they didn't need to understand it completely they just see that it is helping people.
I love my job, I love that I get to connect with people and help them to see their pain in a different light. That I get to open this door for so many that otherwise would never have found it. I hope to be able to share it with you too.
